Advantages and Disadvantages of Steel and Concrete Fan Supports

Steel vs. Concrete Fan Supports: Pros and Cons

There are both steel structure and concrete base supports for centrifugal fans. What should guide your choice? In fact, most of the time, it’s up to the user. For fans with high dynamic and static loads, especially high-pressure or high-power fans, concrete bases are generally preferred. The advantage of a concrete base is its strong load-bearing capacity and high rigidity. However, it also has clear drawbacks: the cost is high due to materials and labor, and the construction period is longer. After the first pouring, secondary grouting is also required, so the overall cost of a concrete base is higher.

Steel plate supports, on the other hand, have the advantage of being quicker to install and more cost-effective. The fan manufacturer completes the whole assembly, and installation is much simpler. For concrete bases, after arriving on-site, the user needs to install the fan themselves, and this requires a high level of expertise from the on-site technical staff.

So, whether to choose a concrete base or a steel support ultimately depends on the user’s decision. But at the end of the day, it’s about choosing what’s right, not what’s expensive. The most suitable option for your working conditions is the true cost-saving choice.
