Common motor voltages for centrifugal fans are 380V, 6kV, and 10kV.
When the fan power exceeds 355kW, it’s recommended to choose a 6kV or 10kV high-voltage motor.
The main reason for this is that the total annual cost is more economical.
Take a 500kW motor as an example.
The motor’s energy consumption remains the same, but the difference lies in the line loss.
A 380V motor can draw about 800A, whereas a 10kV motor only draws 30A.
Assuming the cable length from the substation to the motor is 200 meters,
the line loss difference is 66 kWh.
If it runs for 8,000 hours a year,
this could save 530,000 kWh of electricity annually.
At 0.7 yuan per kWh,
choosing a 10kV high-voltage motor for the centrifugal fan could save 370,000 yuan in electricity costs per year.
