Definition
The impeller is directly mounted on the motor shaft. There is no independent fan bearing housing, no belt drive, and no coupling.
✅ Advantages
1. Highest transmission efficiency
No intermediate transmission components, resulting in minimal energy loss. Compared with C-type belt-driven fans, A-type fans are more energy-efficient under the same operating conditions.
2. Compact structure and small footprint
The fan and motor are integrated into one unit, requiring less installation space. It is suitable for workshops, dust collection systems, and drying stations where space is limited.
3. Fewer wearing parts and easy maintenance
No belts, pulleys, or bearing housings. Daily maintenance only requires checking the motor bearings, with almost no need for regular replacement of spare parts.
4. Stable operation and relatively low noise
No belt vibration, belt slipping, or belt-related abnormal noise. Without lateral belt tension, vibration control is improved.
5. Lower purchase cost
With fewer components, the overall cost is lower than D-type coupling-driven fans and C-type belt-driven fans.
6. Easy installation
The base is integrated, requiring only leveling and alignment. Commissioning work is simple and fast.
❌ Disadvantages
1. Fixed speed limitation
The impeller speed equals the motor rated speed. Speed cannot be mechanically adjusted by changing pulleys, making it difficult to adjust airflow and pressure after installation.
If variable airflow is required, a frequency converter (VFD) must be added, increasing investment costs.
2. Poor high-temperature performance
The motor is directly connected to the fan casing, and heat from high-temperature gas is transferred directly to the motor.
Generally suitable for gas temperatures ≤80°C. For high-temperature applications, C-type or D-type fans are preferred.
3. Motor bearings carry combined loads
The motor shaft bearings must withstand both impeller weight and aerodynamic loads.
It is not suitable for large-size fans with heavy impellers. High-power models are rarely designed in A-type configuration.
4. Difficult maintenance and disassembly
Since the impeller is installed inside the fan casing, removing the impeller for cleaning or repair requires dismantling the motor assembly.
5. Limited medium adaptability
When handling dusty, corrosive, or moisture-containing gases, contaminants may directly enter the motor end cover, accelerating motor damage.
📌 Suitable Applications
A-type direct-drive centrifugal fans are suitable for:
- Workshop ventilation
- Normal-temperature dust collection
- General material conveying
- Normal-temperature grain drying air supply
- Small-scale exhaust systems
Best suited for applications with:
- Stable operating conditions
- No frequent airflow or pressure adjustment requirements
- Normal-temperature environments
- Limited installation space
📌 Applications Not Recommended
A-type fans are not recommended for:
- High-temperature gas or flue gas transportation (>80°C)
- Applications requiring future airflow or pressure adjustment
- Large-size fans with heavy impellers
- High-dust or highly corrosive gas applications without effective isolation and sealing measures
Customer Testimonials
Trusted by industrial partners across 30+ countries — real feedback from our global clients.
“We’ve been using Dajing’s 9-19 high-pressure centrifugal blowers for our dust removal system. The airflow performance is excellent, and the noise level is much lower than our previous models. Truly reliable quality.”
